Nortec Raises The Bar in Engineering Training in Zambia<\/h3>\n

Engineering is the backbone of national development. It facilitates the design, construction, operations and maintenance of machines, plants, planes, vehicles, roads and buildings, among others. Without engineering, the realisation of societal dreams would remain elusive. And if the quality of engineering is inferior, there will be endless problems.
In a developing country like Zambia, the role of engineering is very crucial. For this reason, a lot of investment is needed to create engineers and raise the profession\u2019s profile. The financial cost of training engineers is, however, exorbitant and the training is personally demanding for the trainees themselves.
At Northern Technical College, no effort is being spared to ensure that a dynamic cadre of young engineers is created. A pool of motivated trainers has been employed while state-of-the art technologies have been acquired at great cost.
Through the ZAMITA project, the HER section has been transformed to international standards. The ZAMITA project is a multilateral partnership involving the Swedish government, the primary partner responsible for finance; Volvo Construction Equipment providing the technology and training equipment; and Northern Technical College, the Heavy Equipment Engineering section, which is the implementer of the project.

With support from the Chinese government through the facilitation of GRZ, workshops in Automotive engineering department have been equipped:<\/p>\n

Biomedical and Electrical workshops have been equipped with modern equipment courtesy of partners such as THET and the Chinese government.<\/p>\n
